Carlow Campus School PTA Meeting
August 29, 2007
Minutes
I. Welcome
Dana Casale, President, welcomed the new families to the Campus School and welcomed the “old” families back. A huge thank you was extended to Dan Slain, past President of the PTA, for his outstanding tenure as President. Dana reviewed the Mission Statement of the PTA and explained how the membership fee is utilized. An introduction of the Board members and the agenda rounded out the welcome from the new President.
II. PCR Educator
Ms. Hassett introduced the new program PCR Educator that will be utilized by all teachers to enhance communication between teachers, parents and students. This program will replace Blackboard. At this time the teacher portal is open and all of the Campus School faculty are being trained. Ms. Hassett explained that the parent portal should open in two weeks. Ms. Hassett asked and encouraged all parents to go to the Household Information link and update the contact and emergency information that was entered by Ms. Hassett over the summer. It is very important that this be done by all families. A training session on PCR Educator will take place for parents in the coming weeks.
III.
Dr. Anne Marie Balzano welcomed everyone back to school. She briefly mentioned the changes that have taken place in the classrooms, not only physical changes but curriculum changes, as well.
IV. Advisory Council
Dana explained the purpose for the advisory council as well as it make up. The advisory council meets 5 times a year and consists of 8 people, including parents, teachers, administrators and one student. The council discusses issues, policies and procedures. Dana encouraged anyone with an issue that they would like to see resolved to first bring it to the attention of Dr. Balzano. Advisory Council meeting minutes will be posted on the website.
V. Alumni Association
Sister Mary Paul has been very busy since her “retirement”. She presented her work tracking down Campus School alumni. Keep an eye out for the Fall edition of Circles. Sister encouraged everyone to stop in and visit her in her office on the 3rd floor of Kresge.
