Baseball Game

Mary Kiernan raised concerns about the change of venue for the baseball game, specifically allowing only 30 children to sing the national anthem. Patty Cooper was unable to stay for the duration of the PTA meeting, but said that there had been a complaint about the behavior of some Carlow children at the game last year by a patron seated in our area. Patty felt that no one wanted to be responsible for that many children waiting for that long to sing. Several parents stated that they were unaware of this and would have helped, as they have in the past, if they had been appraised of the situation. Some families were concerned if only one of their children was allowed to sing and most opted not to go to the game. Therefore, attendance to this tradition was down quite a bit. The PTA offered as a solution to take responsibility for the baseball game next year.

Gift Giving Program (Teachers/Ancillary)

Lorraine Buck, who has headed this project for several years, spoke to the need and desire to develop a system of giving and maintaining funds online. Carlow Campus School raised around $13,000 last year for teacher/ancillary appreciation. The new board will look into software to facilitate this process.

Boxtops

Maria Hairston, Chair, reiterated the benefits that Carlow receives from the Boxtops program. We almost reached the $1000 mark this year! If parents, friends or family want to help, they can log onto btfe.com. This site allows you to link to other sites, such as Barnes and Nobles and LandsEnd, but Carlow then receives credit for those purchases. This program is available year round. Maria also reminded us to get our credit when shopping at Target and Giant Eagle.

Volunteers

A list will be going out looking for volunteers for various fund-raisers. The Basket Raffle still needs a chair. Dana Casale will still do the BBQ this fall.
